Outside of fixing the connections there is little you can do the inside. The dongle is software programmed for use as copy protection, so unless you have the access code and the programmer there is little you can do.

If you are the registered-original owner of this software the company may replace it at little or no cost.

Check all the solder connections with a magnifying glass for ring cracks and cold joints.

Secondly if the dongle is truly of no value at this point and it uses the old Microchip Corp processor (possibly the only active component in the Dongle) you may be able to unlock the IC read-protection. This will allow you to rewrite the code into a new chip. I would not advocate trying to get around someone’s copy protection but as a last resort this may be a way to reclaim your investment.

If your seat is registered to you then Gibbs will replace the dongle if it is defective. I had a problem with mine and they sent me a new one, no charge, Next Day Air. If you don't return the defective one you will be charged for a new seat.

Also be aware, if you contact Gibbs for a replacement and you have tampered with it or tried to fix it yourself, this will probably be viewed as an attempt to bypass or copy the security and at that point you will be out of luck.
