Geof 12-22-2005, 03:17 PM I know, I was just getting a dig in at him :D AMCjeepCJ 12-22-2005, 06:09 PM Much appreciated, thank you!! E-912 single phase 02-28-2006, 10:58 PM Wow, our own forum. I will send my Milltronics friends here too. I have a 1998 VM-15 with 20 tool changer, ridged tap, Ethernet, 16Mb ram, LCD and 4th axis rotary table. I added the tool changer and the 4th axis myself. What do you guys have? Cheers Dave WayneHill 03-01-2006, 01:18 AM I programmed a Milltronics a long time ago. It was easy to learn. Wow, our own forum. When do us left handed machinist get our own forum? LYN BYRD 03-31-2006, 01:36 PM Anytime I Have Had An Issue,(very Rarely!!), The People At Milltronics Have Been Very Helpful. If They Made A Pickup Truck, I Would Probably Buy That Too! single phase 03-31-2006, 03:05 PM I just had to replace our milltronics with a fadal and i miss the milltronics controller immensely theres nothing like the warm glow of that orange monocrome screen ours had Is the Fadal nice? What do you think of it? Dave AMCjeepCJ 03-31-2006, 05:49 PM My cousins have a shop FULL of Fadals and they are great machines but I can't say they are nicer than my Milltronics, although they cut at the same rate, spin the same RPM but they program a little harder for a newbie and you get less travel per dollar. Hey, at least my cousins paid more than me! Also, Fadal isn't as much of an american company as Haas or Milltronics, according to our Fadal rep, (I forget the entire story but that was the gist of it...) For what it's worth, I was told by my dad I could buy ANYTHING I wanted this time except a Milltronics. Wouldn't you know it, I end up talking him into a Milltronics VM-22 instead of a Hurco or Mazak and it was the smartest thing we ever did, not to mention save over $30,000 although the Fadals and Haas were similarly priced to the Milltronics, although less standard features. If you are going to do semi-large parts, (larger than your travel,) it will be almost impossible in a Fadal or Haas but the Milltronics take up a larger footprint but I'm right at this second cutting a part 7 inches longer than my Y axis travel and I still have 3 or 4 inches of clearance!! If you EVER run into those situations and have to flip parts, you better REALLY check which machine you purchase. One last thing, I'm going to post in another area about this but I've had the absolute best experience with their engineers I need to update everyone about. Mike Mattera 03-31-2006, 10:45 PM My $ .02 I dont have a Milltronics, But I'd buy one. I've been in lots of shops that have them and they seem like good machines. The dealer in Wisconsin does a great job. Mike Mattera http://www.tipsformanufacturing.com |
