I'm building a cnc router of 4X8 and i don't want to make trial and error, so i want to know the pitch of the ballscrew used on the shopsabre router and the required stepper torque to drive it. Or maybe someone have experience with ballscrew and stepper and can make recommendation on the best set-up, i want to go to 600 IPM and i'm planning to use the Porter & Cable router 3-1/4 HP.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

I don't think you can get 600ipm with steppers and ballscrews. That would be 1200rpm with a screw with 1/2" lead. The Shop Sabre uses servos to get 600ipm. Also, I don't think the Porter Cable has enough power to cut at 600ipm, unless you're taking pretty light cuts.

Hello, shopsaber is now at 1200 Ipm, mine is last years model that is 600 Ipm.
I helped set up a 1200 4896 laser for a local man and to see the big gantry moving at 1200 is scary, but cool !

I have a SS but they don't tell us what parts they build it with.

there are no part numbers or MFG names on the ball screws either.

Did you try the DIY section of this fourum the guys over there are building machines from parts and would know more about your DIY question.

Over here we are SS owners not the builders of them.

and mine is 9 months old and was the 1200 IPM Model

The rails and ball screws are thk the motor is Mitsubishi and and the spindle is Columbo and the spindle controller is Mitsubishi all my parts have the name on them except the ball screws which would be small and I have never looked.I hope this helped. Is their a part you need ?
Thanks,
Ben

oh...did you want the ball screws to be the 600 ipm or the 1200 ipm. I have seen the 1200 ipm much heavier and the pitch of the threads are more aggressive.

Ben

this guy is donesn't have a Shop Sabre he is building a machine.

I would not give out technical info that Shop Sabre has worked to build their machines.

let him go to the Do It Yourself section

he is just trying to make a make a homeade Hack of a SS.
