Hi, I have a lot of Internal gears of many sizes. They came from different models of briggs and straton 10+ hp generator engines.

I am looking into building a lathe:
Chuck: 3" to start maybe up upgrade later to 6"

Motor: not sure,it is big, 220V, induction w/starting and running capacitors
It came off 100% duty ,dual piston, air compressor, motor dim =
(6"dia X 11" long) motor with mate with drive gear with a couple to
allow easy disconnect.( to use motor with other projects )

other headstock features: ? any help ?

my questions:
1)is there a web site/information/detail pic ,of the arrangement of the gears,
also info that relates to the operation of each gear?
2)any ideas of this set-up will help? ,I'm working with what I have.
3)this motor idea good or bad ?why?
4)The difference between geared and pulley lathes?
5)can a VFD be used with this type of motor?why?

thanks Derrick.
