Customer Ricky Bennett (SCANCAD in the UK) is using VCW to engrave Memorials and Plaques on a Newing Hall Pantocut 4E with a Beyerholm & Moe Microstep controller.

Ricky is very happy with the results and commented,

"VCarve Wizard has enabled our memorial department to v carve letters on memorial plaques and headstones in Stone, Brass, Bronze and Wood."

"We consider it a vital and new ability to CNC machine V cut letters over traditional sandblasting and hand cutting."

Recent memorial projects Ricky has machined using VCW are shown below,

Hope this is interesting to the community,

What type of cutter do you use for stone cutting.
What feed rate and depth of cut are you able to use?
Thanks for any info!

Hi,

The stone examples have been cut using a 90 degree included angle carbide tool running at approximately 500mm / min (20" / min). Each of the 2 examples are approximately 450mm x 300mm (18" x 12") with 25mm (1") high lettering and took around 30 minutes to engrave.

One of the examples shows York stone which can be resonably hard and this was cut in 2 passes to a depth of approximately 3mm (1/8th).

The other example is Nebressina and this is soft enough to be cut in a single hit.

Hope this helps,

Tony Mac

More pictures of the work Ricky is doing with VCarve Wizard.

"These are the first full size memorials I've engraved."

"The Software is excellent and I look forward to using it every time. It, of course, is really satisfying to have such first class results, especially off my dear old Pantocut! 21 years old !!"
