I was working with my new Sherline 5400, and notice my preload nut was about 2 inches out on my Y leadscrew.

This should back up against the stepper mount correct?
How tight do I put it?

Sherline has online documentation on setting the backlash. Its pretty straight forward, just a bit annoying fiddling with parts that small.
