Mikey (also on zone) has recommended a supplier in Melb suburbs which I have yet to check out. I checked a regular supplier .... too much. Also, check out Widgetmaster from US (also on zone) as that might be the best way. I have yet to decide and am still fishing. Let me know what you have found also. Andy Let me know what Rodm1954 12-04-2005, 04:38 AM Hi Andy Thanks for your suggestions. I had given up on getting a response and then I got a PM and your reply in the same day. I tried US suppliers but freight was high and the currency cnversion is not in our favour. After a couple of days ringing around I ended up getting some 1/2 inch 6 TPI thread locally. It was expensive and all up a 12 foot length and six nuts cost about $170. I rationalised that this was $60 an axis and settled on that. 6 TPI is not a good number for converting to linear movement but it will have to do. I have a lathe so machining the ends is not a problem for me. I am starting a build log. cheers, Rod aus-newb 12-04-2005, 05:18 AM Hi Rod What are you planning to convert and are you in Perth. We are just about to tackle a big machining ctr in Maddigton. Maybe we can swap some ideas. Craig Rodm1954 12-04-2005, 05:51 AM Hi Craig Yes I am in Alexander Heights, Perth. I am a weekend hacker and new to the CNC thing. I have started a log of my build so you can have a look at where I am on the project. It is all new and very interesting to me but I don't think I will be able to offer you much at this stage. I am allways keen to talk to similar interest people so you are welcome to contact me if you want. cheers, Rod Perth, Western Australia widgitmaster 12-04-2005, 05:52 AM Hi I'm checking this out also. Andy Let me know what Hello Andy, I have not been promoting sales of the Acme lead screws, mostly because the lathe I have is so poorly made, I can not make precision bearing ends. When I solve this problem, I will continue. :frown: My supplier in the USA is Enco, have you looked into ordering online from them? Thanks for the good word!
