View Full Version : Easy heatsink for Hot treadmill motors rc-cellar 10-28-2005, 08:30 PM Alum u-channel (20 pcs-6"), 4" pipestraps (for dryer vents), heatsink grease... total $15 Temp dropped from 160F to 125F :D motomitch1 10-29-2005, 01:32 AM Good idea I need to do that to my treadmill motor i use for my spindle. sendkeys 10-29-2005, 01:40 AM great idea :) did the drop is temp stay at 125f? or was it like clamping more metal to to the motor so after time it gets back to 160f anyway. Im thinking about doing this to some of my servo motors :) rc-cellar 10-29-2005, 02:24 AM Ran it for an hour no-load. May still need a fan but at least I can touch the case without getting burned. JFettig 10-29-2005, 04:58 AM I have a fan on mine, and after an hour of running with a load its still not too hot, it does get warm. Without a fan it gets rediculously hot. Jon phantomcow2 10-29-2005, 09:40 PM WEll done. I'm definantly going to put a heatsink of the like on my spindle motor. And MAYBE on steppers, maybe sendkeys 10-29-2005, 11:48 PM Thanks rc :) i think im going to give this a try too :") 2muchstuff 10-30-2005, 12:10 AM How about wrapping some sheet aluminum over your new heatsink and adding a muffin fan on the end so it will blow air over/thru the heatsinks. It should drop the temp further. |
