Turbocad Version 3 is so old that I personally would not use it. They now have version 12 I think.

You can purchase Turbocad Version 9 for about $15.00 on e-bay. Also, that is for a factory new CD, not a copy.

Turbocad has a very steep learning curve, and one would need to purchase some factory training CD's to be proficient with this Cad package. The training CD's are around $50.00.

Turbocad will accept input files in many formats. You can even input a .JPG photo and trace the photo manually and output it as a .dxf file. In my opinion, the 3D capabilities and the input and output functions of Turbocad are its greatest assets.

Another option is to download A9CAD from the internet. It is a shareware program where you purchase it only if you like and use it. This program is a 2D version clone of Autocad. It has features of a basic CAD program. It is VERY easy to use, and if you upgrade to Autocad someday, you can use the same commands and functions (in most cases).

I personally use Autocad and Turbocad. I tried out A9CAD to see what it would do, and it passes the test for a CNC hobbiest wanting to learn CAD and to design 2D objects. It will output .dxf files, which is a standard for almost any CAD system.

Hope this helps,
Jerry

The question was for TurbocadCAM V3 which is an add on for Turbocad V11 and V12.

I have TCC v11 with Cam v3 it is real easy to use up untill I try and center my mill work on the metal stock when setting up the cam. I can get it to put the part next to it but can't get it to center. I know it is me not the software. I need to know how to enter the right info on the drawing input screen X,Y,Z, and the part geometry input screen X,Y,Z If anyone can tell me how to do this it would be great. Say I have a cavity that is 5" w x 5" d x -2" tall and the stock is 10" x 10" x 3" what would I enter in the fields?

I have learned all of this for free at www.Tormach.com where I got my CNC mill and the Turbo Cad v11/Cam v3 just go to products then software and it will take you to Turbo Cad/Cam course website. There they have a great free tool to help you along Video cad course.
