I'm looking for different designs for zero backlash ball nuts? I have already purchased plans for one design but was somewhat disappointed since it was not simple as advertised. The plans call for 2 ballnuts (singles), tension washers and 2 parts which are machined out of steel. Of the two fabricated parts, one is threaded into the other with the tension washer on each end. This assembly fits between the two single ball nuts and is used to apply outward tension to the nuts on the shaft (same design as used by many).
What I was wondering is this! Is there a design which doesn't require machining of parts and machining of the ball nut houseing (hardened). I recently saw a different design on nook ballscrews and ballnuts on ebay which were advertised as "zero backlash". It looked fairly simple but I'm sure it's much more complicated that I make it. Anyway, does anyone have a design for a zero backlash ball nut system that they are willing to share???? Can we make this an open forum discussion????
Thanks and Happy Chip Making!
