I have a single speed Dremel.

Does anybody know if I can control the speed with a Triac??

What other alternative do I have?

Thanks you

campaX, I've used a soldering iron temp controller with a single speed dremel with no problems. Ratshack used to carry the controller, but I haven't shopped there for awhile so can't tell you if it's still a stock item. I never opened it so don't know the electronics involved, but it should be fairly simple. I use it for a window fan now and after 6 years it's still going strong. Hope this gives you some insight. Also don't forget to to Google motor controls and whatnot.

campaX:

yes, you can use a triac circuit to control the single speed Dremel. Dremel used to sell a speed controller (foot peddle) which was a triac on a >large< heatsink.
