I figure that the PIC's are Programmable Integrated Circuits, but do you use them to make your own driver boards. I'm building a CNC unit, and contemplating which setup to go. Is it much cheaper for the "materials" to make your own boards? I don't want to count the equipment, seeing how i'd use it for othe stuff. I'm making a small setup to do PCB's and to aid with making a larger mill. Can anyone point me to a good tutorial of what PIC are good for as related to CNC. Thanks!

I think PIC is an acronym for Peripheral Interface controller. It’s a microcontroler from Microchip
www.microchip.com. Microchip offers a (I like this word) FREE program for developing programs, MPLB IDE V7.20. If you are not familiar with microcontroler be prepared for a learning curve. Another
option would be to find someone who would sell a preprogrammed chip for you.
