View Full Version : Dro Scales CNCadmin 08-04-2003, 11:23 PM Any have Dro scales on their mini lathe? I was thinking about add it to my MIrco mark lathe. WOODKNACK 08-05-2003, 08:49 AM I was looking at that on the mini-lathe page. What would be the total cost after you buy the scales? Would be cheaper to buy a couple digital calipers and mount them on your lathe.? CNCadmin 08-05-2003, 09:22 AM Here is a 12" scale- http://www.littlemachineshop.com/products/product_view.php?ProductID=2014 The dro kit is about 600.00. WOODKNACK 08-05-2003, 11:14 AM Like I said thats alot of money to do it that way. considering the lathe only cost $300 dollars. Thats twice the cost of the lathe. In my own opionion Id buy 2 digital calipers from harbor freight for $20.00 dollar each and adapt them to the mini lathe. It will do the same thing for $40.00 dollars total and a little bit of time to adapt it to the lathe. CNCadmin 08-05-2003, 11:50 AM They don't have 12" long calipers. WOODKNACK 08-05-2003, 12:02 PM How about this. its 12 inch for $50.00 !? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=47261 Then buy the $20.00 dollar one and you did it all for $70.00 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=47257 They are also Fluid-resistant . Seems like the easyest and cheapest way to me.. Just my opionion.:D CNCadmin 08-05-2003, 12:28 PM I just saw that. :) CNCadmin 08-05-2003, 12:29 PM How would you afix it? WOODKNACK 08-05-2003, 11:37 PM I have seen people put these on there mills. One guy drilled a small hole thru the nose of each jaw on the caliper, he then screwed each jaw to a bracket he made that was fixed to the mill. Seems to me you should be able to make it work this way?! CNCadmin 08-05-2003, 11:48 PM I just got this one- http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2549404393&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAB:US:6 WOODKNACK 08-06-2003, 12:03 AM let me know how the hook up goes. im going to buy my lathe this fall. |
