Hello,

I was wondering if this control, Heidenhain TNC151, can do 3D work? it's on a 1988 Bridgeport Interact 412 machining center... I,m looking to buy on of these machine and was wondering the details about the control, Heidenhain did not reply to my mails...

If it does no 3D work, is it a big deal to retrofit this CNC to get it to work great on 3 axis at a time?

Please let me know if you know anything about these controls :)

Thanks for any help!

hello
the tnc 151 will run 3 axis simultaniously but you will need some good software
to do it the main drawback is program size both my machines will only take programs
of 1000 blocks okay for 2d/2.5d stuff but not much use for 3d stuff

I know this is over a month old post, but i mainly wanted to reply to Mike... but for the poster asking about 3D... It'll do it:

Mike: You can feed in the programs line-by-line, and run as many lines as you want without worrying about the 999 line max limit... although this does of course require another computer to piggyback the control, but you may already have a computer plugged into the control anyway to feed it the full programs.

We ran a 7400-line project on this exact control yesterday :wee:
