View Full Version : Dmv 3016l Mill
Kingz 08-26-2005, 05:40 PM This is a thread for the DMV 3016L Mill from Daewoo
Our Company just purchase 3 new Machines, one of which is a DMV 3016L with a oi-MB input panel, 24 tool stations, and chip remover. and about 14hp spendel, to start off. We currently use a Solidworks 2006 Professional and FeatureCAM 2006 with upgrades on FeatureMill3D, Feature Turn/Mill, and FeatureRECOGNITION. Our Company is not new to Machining but is new to Programming and CNC work.
I look forward to learning from everyone with thier question and suggestions regarding this system (group)
qmas99 02-05-2006, 01:43 AM what size of the circuit breaker do you use?
pumpkinbiter 02-08-2006, 02:19 AM We too just baught a deawoo 3016L.
I used to run a 3020 box so I am used to the fanuc.
If you have any questions regarding the controller or
pgming shoot em over. It will be nice to have someone
to discuss the small issues of the machine with.
How is yours working out so far?
Ours comes in tomarrow.
qmas99 02-08-2006, 10:52 PM my is comming at the end of next week, but I don't know what breaker's Amps that I need to use for the machine.
pumpkinbiter 02-09-2006, 01:56 AM I am pretty sure a 40amp breaker will suffice.
The machine literature says the machine will
draw 35kv (I think). I don't know what that means
by my electrician says I need a 40amp breaker. ???
If you had doubt I would ask the guys selling the machine.
They are usually pretty good about that kind of stuff.

How does the "L" compare to the box way?
ericreed 11-02-2007, 10:03 PM Hello all, this is my first post,
I am fairly new to cnc, but have been creating programs with mastercam 9.1
and am doing well at it. I've used autocad for 15 years so creating DWG's to import into Mastercam is no prob.... I create offsets for tool centerline paths for those cases where no close tolerances are needed and turn OFF comp for that tool, and use wear comp. and select part geometry when tolerances need to be controlled for other tools as required. Having said that those areas are fine, but I have read that there is a way to use only PART geometry and use the control at the cnc to offset the tool, whereupon mills of different dia. can be used and re-set at control..... I've tried selecting part geometry, and turning on CONTROL for that tool in mastercam, then loading the program and inputing the tool diam. in the D-offset Geometry column, and allways get an error after the program starts... what am i overlooking ?? Oh, if I don't put anything in the Geometry offset and run the program, the tool follows the part geometry no problem..thanks for your time Eric
rickyt 11-04-2007, 08:47 AM check your leadin leadout, I believe it has to be larger than half the dia. of the e-mill your using.
ericreed 11-09-2007, 06:59 PM thanks for the reply rickyt
the test I did was a 4 inch straight line that extended well before the part ( no lead in-lead out needed ? ), and ended in
a curve, the tool being on the outside of the curve, anyways this line WAS the geometry edge and Control was selected as the comp., with G41, the spindle cam down and stoped before following the code further. ( i should have read the MSG .... ) .. thanks Eric
rickyt 11-14-2007, 05:22 PM no problem, I hope that helps out.
rickyt 11-30-2007, 09:21 PM How do you like your 3016L, I'm getting a quote on one Monday. I would like to hear if you have had any problems or if things are going good. The posts about people having spindle problems is troubling. My dealer here in Ga. seems to really stand behind thier product, no pushy sales or anything, just plain upfront talking and no BSing.

I've had one for about a week. I'll keep you posted if you want.

rickyt 12-02-2007, 05:01 PM That would be great, what options did you get, or wish you would have gotten? Are you using it for production or lower quantity work?

30ATC and thru spindle coolant. We make plastic injection mold and small production jobs. I started running 6 mold parts today.
