I would like to say that this is an excellent forum, and I have learnt a lot from it and I am very impress at how helpful people are. My interest in CNC was sparked from when I was at school and we had a [turtle] which was a small wheeled robot. The turtle was programmed by the logo (http://www.softronix.com/logo.html) programming langue but the best bit about it was the fact you could pace a pen in it which it could lift up and down. This enabled it to draw shapes and simple pictures on the flaw.
So why am I going on about this, well things have moved on and I want to be a part of it. These are some of the other peoples projects I have found.

This is a great site well worth exploring!!!!
The purpose of this site is to suggest that motion control is also an emerging medium for artistic expression.(Bruce Shapiro)

HEKTOR: (http://www.hektor.ch/)
Hektor is a Graffiti Output Device. It was realized during two months in Summer 2002 by Jürg Lehni and Uli Franke, an electronics engineer from Zurich, for Lehni's diploma project at the école cantonale d'art de Lausanne (écal).
This is pretty cool it use SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) instead of G-code by following the vector graphic paths. Instead of having fixed axis to travel alone the drawing part (spray-can) it is suspended with the motors mounted in the top two corners.

Institute For Applied Autonomy (http://www.appliedautonomy.com/gw.html)
GraffitiWriter is a tele-operated field programable robot which employs a custom built array of spray cans to write linear text messages on the ground at a rate of 15 kilometers per hour. The printing process is similar to that of a dot matrix printer.

I am interested in hearing other peoples ideas or if they know of any other good links.

Thanks jm

Pixel roller http://random-international.squarespace.com/pixel-roller-overview/
The pixel roller does exactly what it say it is, rolls pixels. It can be viewed like a hand printer, the pixel roller can roll out any image, video or text manually, at any speed or diraction, round corners and over surfaces.
This is worth a look ,almost like magic it paints a portrait of a face on glow-in-the-dark-paint using a row of LED’S
video (http://random-international.squarespace.com/pixel-roller-video/)
I guess the reason it can do this is because, the roller has a wheel on each side which are measured independently to see how far the roller has travelled and workers out how much it has turned.

There is also a paint version http://random-international.squarespace.com/pixelroller-overview/

I would like to say that this is an excellent forum too!
JM - I think you might get in trouble for linking to images that are off-site.
I got an email from the zone once that said this was a no no. I think its called 'deep linking' - or maybe - 'hot linking'
I kinda like the term 'DEEP HOT LINKING'

Any who, I'll add some stuff I like.

Good starting points of exploration:

A comment and some links:
Mr. Shapiro says on his web site, that the super cool sand drawing device was a collaborative effort with a man named Jean Pierre Hebert. at some point in one of his faqs he refers to Shapiro as "Ho"...
Why this name for Bruce? (does anyone know?)

Hi wholepair
I love links, thanks theirs even one or two new ones to add to my bookmarks, lots of reading to do.
The wooden mirror is so good, when I first saw it was on a different web site which had only picture of it, I thought I was just an idea that would never be made but was amazed after seeing the film to find to was real and worked.

Well my progress in the cnc world is travailing slowly but I have stated to make small steps literally (sorry for the bad joke) I have got a stepper motor moving with using a unl2003 and as I now have the use of a better digital camera there is a photo

Some more pictures of Bruce Shapiro sand drawing machines
http://pie.exploratorium.edu/scrapbook/bruce/index.html

And from his web site I stumbled across this the other day
http://www.taomc.com/stepperarray/stepperarray.htm

Ps. I did email some of the sites before I posted to the photos but they didn’t reply so I just put them up. From what I understand they could block the links if they wanted to.
I did the hot linking before they sent the admin email about it, I did reply to this saying which sites I had emailed but got on reply. I cant edit my posts as they are to old so if a moderator thinks the likes need removing please do so.

Was doing a refresh on some sail cutting software and came across this one:

nice video and music to watch as well. Main site has some lettering SW and HGPL files for those looking too.

 Jim

I'm guessing:
