www.mcmaster.com type "ballscrew" for a product search. the 5/8" dia nuts and screws are very inexpensive.

don't forget Roton ball screws they are a little higher quality than the McMaster carr stuff and I believe they are a few Cents cheaper, although not as quick on the draw shipping as mcmaster carr.

5966K26 this is the part number for a 5/8" ball screw at 1.25 dollars an inch. (the cheapest and most economical size)

5966K16 this is the number for a sqare ball nut for the aformentioned screw. Also the cheapest and most economical on the list. These are what I have bought in the past.

ignore all of the letter stuff as they are just the dimensional specs. (unless you need them for your decsion :D )

whats to understand? ;)

I would verify my numbers as I don't want to miss lead you because of a typo or boneheadness on my part. :D

screw lead is the threads per inch 13/64"(for the 5/8" ball screw/nut) lead is very close to 5 threads per inch. load cap (i assume this is what you meant by lead cap) is the amount of load the ball screw is rated for. Don't know what your reference to "lip" is by I am guessing you mean Lg. which stands for length.

hope this helps

What kind of coupler do I need to mate this with a stepper motor? I want to use the third stepper (http://www.homeshopcnc.com/page3.html). Yeah I know, I'm still a noob :p Can someone also explain me the difference between the normal and the dual shaft option?

I'd recommend Roton over McMaster. You can call Roton on the phone, they will hand fit the ball nuts to the screw. Excellent customer service. I paid $20 for 5/8" ball nuts and $30 for 4 feet of ball screw. Best price Ive found anywhere. Just don't bother emailing them. Call them. Real helpfull folks.

roadkiller, I use a lovejoy coupler and have been very happy with the connection
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/NTESearch?storeId=6970&in_dym=1&Nty=1&D=than&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&N=0&Ntk=All&Ntt=LOVEJOY%20COUPLING&cmnosearch=true&cm_ven=PPC&cm_cat=Performics&cm_pla=Google&cm_ite=Google

You can get one half to match the diameter of the stepper motor shaft and the other half can be a different diameter to match your ball screw shaft if needed.

screw lead is the threads per inch 13/64"(for the 5/8" ball screw/nut) lead is very close to 5 threads per inch.

I was under the impression that McMaster Carr rounded off to the nearest 1/64", and the actual lead is 5 tpi.

well if they rounded off I think the documentation would read differently, but I have bought the roton stuff and a freind bought the MCmaster stuff and side by side they are definitely different. So I would not assum its 5TPI, but it is very close. Not to mention the roton screw is thru hardend and ground and the Mcmaster is rolled and case hardend.

OK, then. It just seemed that everyone that talks about them always calls them 5tpi. Thanks for the clarification.

it is realy close And I too refere to them as 5tpi but its .2031 lead vs a 5tpi .2000 lead. So on a number bases i would say they are close to equal but personaly wouldnt mix them.
