I have read honest reviews (those posted by actual users), I have been to the Ajax web site. They lean toward a high end computer system perhaps for number crunching but certainly not needed for most machining. Is it a 64 bit system? ....But before I jump in he swimming pool I need to dabble my feet. For practical purposes I'm near Providence Rhode Island.

Is there anyone nearby that I could visit and see the conversion, its good and its pitfalls?

Secondly, the same applies to Onecnc software. 5 axis in 5 munutes is impressive!!!!!

Have they graduated to 64 bit processing?

Who has their program in northeast US?

Roadtrip to Australia or Europe would be great but perhaps next year.

Thanks
FranH

OneCNC will run on a 64 bit system, although I haven't heard of a release specifically built for 64 bits, I'm sure they will do so when it is time.

As far as a windows computer running a machine, well, windows itself is the big resource hog, so if you have a system with 100x overkill, it might just squeak by as a cnc controller. Many professional cnc's still run an older 486 processor, but have plenty of computing power for machining with, but that is because the operating system is pared down and crafted to just handle the requirements of the machine.

I am runnung my ajax system on a standard pc board , I did add a little bit more stuff than they suggest celeron 2.6 mhz , 1 gig of ram but the cost for later model stuff was about the same. I am running the linux version and so far so good. and it is an easy install ,being that i am not a electrical wizard. It took me about a week during my spare time
good luck ,
