My dremel is fading fast and I'm looking for a replacement motor. I'd love to go with an actual router (I like the DeWalt DW618), But I'm worried about that weight cantalevening (sp?) off the Z-axis (jgro type machine). Maybe DeWalts laminate trimmer would be a better choice. I'm cutting mostly wood. I'd also like to get something relatively quiet, so I assume that leaves out the Rotozip?
Anyway, here's a plaque I did for the neighbors Papillions.

Thanks,

Dave

DeWalt laminate trimmer works really great on my machine. One can also purchase a 1/8" collet on Amazon Tools for the unit. Cost of collet is about $14.00.

Trimmer requires some thought in mounting. Unit has 2 oval shaped sides, and is flat on the back and the left side. I made a rectanglar 3 sided box for the unit utilizing the left side and the back. Use the bolt hole on left side to hold unit in place. Works very well.

I am using the Dremel Advantage. It is about 1HP and has adjustable motor speed around 10,000 to 35,000 RPM. You can get a 1/4" collet to turn real router bits. Mounts easy and isn't any noisier than a real router.
