I recently suffered some damage to my Haas SL-40 Ethernet interface circuit board (p/n 93-1108B). This is simply a $10 network interface card with a PC/104 connector.

Haas wanted $1900 for the board.
I found the EXACT replacement on-line for $99.
Simply removed the old card, installed the new one (had to move one jumper from "PNP" to "JP".

Got it from GETMIS.com

Part number NWM-2211B

Does this mean that I can add Ethernet to my Mini Mill for $99??????

I would guess that HAAS has put a activation code that you have to key in to access the option.

When we got our SL40 lathe, they initially installed the ethernet board but it didn't work. The lathe was new to their product line so we expected some problems getting it working. They ended up replacing some other circuit boards in the control to make the Ethernet work. I don't really know what is necessary to add Ethernet to an existing system. If memory serves me correctly, the initial installation proceedure was long and didn't work. It required an external computer connected to the serial port on the control. There were a bunch of DOS commands to build a boot disk. The new circuit board they installed eliminated the need for the boot disk entirely. There are now a set of user parameters in the control to tell it where to retreive the cnc files from (server address, network type, etc.)
Hope this helps.
