I am milling a lot of titanium these days and have been getting fair results using 4 flute cutters (carbide) but I always have ripples in the titanium. Not large ripples but they are very noticeable when you look at it. I'm cutting at about 2100-2200rpm using flood coolant and running about 5 IPM.

Would a five flute cutter leave a better finish? How about speed and feed?

Please keep in mind that I'm more or less a hobbyist and don't have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this. If I have left out any pertinent information please let me know and I will fill in the gaps the best that I can.

Thanks!
Chris Smith

What diameter cutters? At 2100-2200, the diameter must be small. .250?

What type of cuts? Cutting with the end(floor), or side (wall)?
