Hey guys,

A mate of mine has built a small crucible-less furnace that he seems to be melting aluminium in quite well, and I thought you might all be interested.

Seems like a simple enough design and works quite effectively for small melts.

Take a look at:-

all of these sights talk about how to make a burner but none of the show diagrams or pieces. I know they are simple but does anyone have a drawing (even a napkin style crayon one will work) :D

Here's a couple of links that have good information on burners.

There is also a book by: Michael Porter titled: Gas Burners for forges, furnaces & Kilns.
which I feel is an excellent book. It's available from amazon.com
No connection to anyone here indicated but myself.

Wow, that's a really fantastic furnace, nicely constructed. I also have the problem with melting long aluminum extrusions. That's a neat way to solve the problem.
