Hi guys, i need some advice down here. i understand that there are formulas for calculating RPM, and feedrate for everi jobs, but i have a problem. Is this the only formula around ?
Spindle RPM = [Ideal Cutting Speed (Meters/Minute) x 1000] / [Diameter of the Cutter (mm) x PI]
For the Ideal Cutting Speed (m/mm), how do i know whats ideal ? is it given by the manufactorer of the MATERIAL ?
Anyway, lets say if i have a high speed steel cutter and i need to do rough cuts on an aluminium job for instance. Can i calculate the spindle speed and suitable feedrate range by formulas to ensure full chip breaks ? I used to do trial and error style on conventional milling and lathe machines to get the feedrate and rpm on different materials with different cutters but its veri life-consuming and it differs between conventional and CNC. The worst thing is im veri limited with my cutters currently becoz my college is under construction so i hope to use formulas to save valuable time.
One last thing i wish to get advice - I wish to buy a Machinist Handbook for reference, does anybody have a gd reccomendation for Milling/Turning CNC machines ? preferrbly a book that comes with formulas. Really sorrie to waste everibody's time
