View Full Version : What do you use to hold your work down? CNCadmin 06-03-2005, 08:32 AM How are you guys holding your work are vises good enough and should one look for in a work holding solution? Rekd 06-03-2005, 09:47 AM Vises work for most parts here. We use kurt vises and gerardi tombstones for the 4 axis stuff. You can also hold smaller fixtures in the vise if you're too lazy to take it off the table. ;) We also use bigger fixtures, custom vacuum fixtures, bias-ply tape, and angle plates. You really need to base your choice on what you 'plan' on running the most of. Thin flat parts generally require a fixture, where most other parts can be held in vise jaws. We typically use alum jaws so we can customize them to fit odd shaped parts. home-tek 06-03-2005, 10:27 AM We machine both castings and Hog-outs. Most castings required fixtures and build by Tool Makers. Hog-outs usually on vises. Operators will make own fixture on CNC machine if needed. |
