I found this on ebay and thought it may be of some value to someone. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7520092639 He says that he has 10 of them for sale. 3/4" diameter, 2-TPI, 53" of usable thread. I bought one for my y axis and except for the grease on it, there seems to be no real signs of wear on the screw and the price was right.

Have you worked with this ballscrew....cutting, changing the bearing ends, mounting?
I'm interested in this for my Y axis but will need to shorten at least one end.

Further, you say it seems to be in good shape....have you been able to determine if the wear would require oversized balls to lower the backlash?

Also. is there an area of the screw where the ballnut seems to roll easier? Probably in the central length ....where often wear is attributed to most used portion of the screw?

Regarding the ballscrew, I haven't had the time to fully check it out as of yet. Hopefully this weekend I may have time to see if there is a difference from the middle to the ends. I was planning to remove the ballnut and replacing it with a preloaded one from Nook.

As for bearing ends, I was going to use Nook's EZM 3015 bearing ends, double row angular contact. They will slip right on. Somewhere around here I've got 10 new units.

How much do you need to shorten it, if it is not that much, why not design in a little "overhang".
