If you look here http://www.file-ext.com/ under v you see it is called a vedit file ( this may be wrong ) . Typing Vedit file in Google sends you here http://www.vedit.com/ amoung other places . That page makes me think it might be a text file . Try to open it with Notepad . If it is G code you could do a back plot . Good luck

Reading in the help files of Surfcam I found a VDA extension, but no VDM or VDS. I would assume they may be from the same program. The explanation is that they are a German Automotive Format file. Maybe you can find it on the web for a better explanation.

Klox,
Are you sure about the file extensions? I'm only asking because I am always looking for challenges on the net, and in
looking for these extensions I found this site:

http://www.freelists.org/archives/adeel420/11-2002/msg00020.html

The only thing even remotely like them refer to a program called VISIO, and even then the file extensions are
VSD, Visio drawing (flow chart or schematic).
I'm not criticizing, merely trying to help. We regularly get drawings made using "CATIA" or "IDEAS" and need to send them out for conversion.

Guys,
Problem solved!
"A VDM file is a Peps program containing all the geometry and possibly machining / technology data to create an NC program for the relevant machine.
A VDS file is a security copy of a VDM file,Peps automatically generates VDS files at timed intervals (10 mins) during a Peps session. So if the PC dies the program is not lost."

These info was send to me by the company CAMtek in the UK, I presume they are suppliers of Peps CADCAM software.

Klox,
I should have known that one, I used PEPS at college, albeit a while ago, coincidently "Camtek" is based very close to where I live in the UK. Also I use a programming system for my waterjet machine that was designed by former Camtek employees. Ironic?
Catch you later Mark...

BTW FBB is good, but IMO crumpets or toasted teacakes taste better (With a decent cup of tea)
