I need 'puters with ISA slots for my CNC controls. (Camsoft Galil card) I bought a computer very similar to this one:

The ISA extender is a 64 pin header on the motherboard, as far as I can figure. Anyone know where to get an adapter so I can put an ISA card in this box?

I think you'll have to maybe buy an older computer to get an ISA slot (cheaply). I bought a used PIII600 when I had the same requirement. AFAIK, an ISA slot must be built in to the mother board.

I agree with Hu. Most new PC for office/home do not have ISA slots anymore. You can still get industrial PCs with ISA slot but at higher cost, eg. http://www.technoland.com/mb.htm

Older PC will be the cheaper and easier to get alternative :)

The BIOS in this computer has the ISA device. It sure looks like I just need a cable type adaper with a header pin on one end and a card slot holder on the other.

My software needs a P3 1 GHZ to run well. Very hard to find with ISA slot. This box was only $100 so I took a chance.

Anybody heard of such a thing????

I just found the the part on HPs site. No longer available from them:

P1553A Part is not orderable in the HP Parts Store.
ISA extension board - Has two ISA card slots - Plugs into the extension board slot on the system board

Anybody know a place to special order obsolete computer parts?

Not cheap but will take up to 3.0 Ghz P4. I got one and loaded Mach2 on it. Seems to work great but I have not tried to run a "real" machine with it yet.

there are also motherboards from i-base, mb800 and mb820 iirc, which have two isa slots each and take p4/celerons.

I have used these in the past with Delta Tau controllers. They seem to work fine. They are starting to get hard to find though.

Let me check my pile of parts when I get home tonight. I might have just the part you're looking for.

That would be wonderful. I've called everywhere I can think of. And watched Ebay for six months - no joy.

Wow 6 month I figured this tread was dead for sure.
Did you look into the Soyo motherboard?
