Anyone run a "Schutte WU305 5-Axis Toolgrinder"? I run one at work, Its a great machine to run! Just looking to share tips. Jerry

I am using right now a WU305 Linear
I knew 0 about cnc machines when I started and I am learning a little here and there. I am bringing myself up to speed to get ready to reprogram the machine (new grinding paths for same tool). I don't know how many SHARP tips I can share with you if any because of my knowledge but I would be 100% interested in hearing about your experiences and sharing ideas with you.

I thought I was the only person that ran this cnc machine! :)

I've been running this WU305 for about 5 years now, when you said "WU305 Linear" is that the new machine with Linear motors, & WindowsXP (does it still run Siemens 840D)?

My machine was built in 2000, & runs Siemens 840D, WindowsNT, ballscrews, 5-wheelPack changer.

Well the only difference that I see is that ours has linear motors. I am running NT and have the same Siemens control unit. But I think that I only have four grinding wheels in the changing drawer. (which I don't know how to use)

I am not sure when our was built. It was originally a demo machine for Schütte.

Yeah, I only have 4 grinding wheel positions in the wheel magazine also, sorry about that (wishful thinking?). :D

So our machines sound the same, as far as the control.

Do you have the Schutte drill program?

Also I have 2 Siemens 840D manuals (basic & advanced) in PDF which are GREAT! I'll try & find them, I saved a copy at home & work.

I work in a shop where we grind thermal friction drills. We have some old CNC machines and then the schütte. we use it to grind the larger diameters. It is a nice machine but I am trying to change the program so that it will grind differently. Changing the path that is takes when it grinds a tool.
I am starting from ground zero and working my way to program writing so I have my hands full.

I am liquidating 4 2006/2007 Schutte 305 micro, 305 linear (the linears have wheel changers & rotobic loaders. all 'like new' know anyone interested? with the euro so strong this should make things easy
