I am just setting up my first router table. I'm using a hobbycnc
controller, and I've set the axis step and direction pins, and i've
tried a few settings for the accel, max, and slow settings. I'm using
1/2-10tpi acme threaded rod, and hp laserjet III steppers with a
24volt 7.5 amp power supply.

Jog mode I show movement on screen when I jog a given axis, motor even
changes pitch as if it were moving it seems. But it isn't moving....???

Any ideas on how to get a handle on this and dail it in?? I'm using a
200mhz compaq deskpro station with 198mb ram running win98SE. When I
click on my turbocnc icon the computer drops out of win98, seems to
hot boot to msdos and start up turbocnc.

Any help or guidance as to where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

I just put together a xylotex unipolar 4 axis controller, and had the same problem withturbocnc 4.01, was useing a 200 mhz , so put together another computer with a 1 gig mhz now it runs fine, could be the 200 mhz does not have a math processor?? just food for thought, also make sure you have mouse.com so U can use a mouse to setup turbocnc...............Gary

make sure there is nothing in the config.sys or the autoexec.bat like emm.sys

You're running in a DOS window. You need to shut down windows and restart in pure DOS. Hit F8 while windows is booting to bring up a menu that let's you start in DOS mode. Or is there an option when shutting down to restart in DOS mode? If so, you can do that.
That should help.

It sounds (pardon) like your problem may be that the motors are stalled.
They are not powerful enough to move the load. Try to run the motors without the screws connected. Threaded rod will suck up at least 60% of the torque, more if you have any anti-backlash setup. This is just a guess, I know too little about your setup to do better than guessing.

If they are stalled you can still hear that they try to make steps. You may even be able to feel it if you put a finger on the shaft. (Don't try that with bigger motors! You might need the finger later.)
