Hi everybody, Im new to cnc zone.com so be gentle.
Has anybody noticed that when using the helix option when milling a bore. That when you process the code it puts the cutter comp at the end of the operation. We have a HAAS VF6 and an ancient mazak with mazatrol and the software does the same thing with both of them. So if your milling a 2.25" bore and your using a 2" cutter and you have a .5" line move or the last move before the operation is greater than the difference between cutter and finished hole youu will have one hell of a wreck at the end of the op.

P.S Im too lazy to manually put the code in the right place.

You can also use the plugin "tapperd thred"
Select a point in the center and create a tappered thred with zero angle and the pitch is used to set how much you will ramp each rev.
Try it out, the r-comp works with this.
Drawback you dont get a full rev at the bottom without som mod.

I have found it dead easy to get one hell of a wreck if you are too lazy to put the code in the correct place.

My experience is with yasnac and fanuc controls and as far as I know you can't have cutter comp. called on a G2 or G3 line which is probably why the cutter comp. is being put at the end of the operation.
