1. ## Alibre newbie / help

i am learning alibre and I am having trouble moving a goup of lines lower in the Z plane.

The outside frame with the 45° chamfers I want to move down -28.00 in Z. I can't figure it out.

***I changed the .extension file to .txt so I can upload the file. If you have Alibre change the .extension back to .AD_PRT***

thanks

2. all the geometry you draw on that sketch plane will always be at the same level. If you want to create another sketch plane at a position of Z -28.00" away, you can do that (Insert_Plane, click on the XY plane then enter Distance of 28.00" ) then draw your outside frame on the new plane. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to achieve with what you've drawn.

Thanks for the tip. I am attemping to draw a 13.5 tombstone with a 500mm base with a total height of 28.0

4. to do that I would draw the 13.5 x 13.5 tombstone on the sketch you started and extrude it to length ( Extrude_Boss ) with the length = 28" - the base thickness. Then select (by clicking on) the bottom of the newly extruded shape, and click Activate 2D sketch. This creates a new sketch plane on that surface. Draw your base shape (500mm x 500mm) and Extrude_Boss with a thickness of whatever your base is. Check-out the tutorials online or within Alibre, they helped me starting out quite a bit.
