CAM for all! (Including Xpress!)

Guess what!

Alibre is providing even more features than before with their CAM bundle. Here are some of the details.

Alibre CAM Press Release
http://www.alibre.com/news/pr/pr20080409.asp

Alibre CAM Xpress
http://www.alibre.com/products/mecha...cam_xpress.asp

Alibre CAM Product Family Overview

Having the CAM bundled directly with the CAD software now gives even more flexibility. They have added several versions too. From the BASIC to 5 axis. I just learned about the 5 axis myself. We have a 4 axis machine here and hope to try it soon.

This is a great! But you may need to hurry to get the following deal. I have this version in the Expert Alibre and can't believe they are giving it away to Xpress users.

This is from the article above.

Alibre CAM Xpress; Add-On Price: Free
The entry-level version of Alibre CAM providing basic 2 ½- and 3-axis milling that is being made available free to a select group of manufacturing professionals who can then invite others to obtain the product. Alibre CAM Xpress was formerly known simply as Alibre CAM and was bundled only with Alibre Design Expert.

HI Toby. The waiting is the hard part, I don't have any cam programs other than cut 3d and a trial of cambam. so even though express dosent do much it will help. Graham

That is true but it might be a bit more feature loaded than you would think. The overall picture is Free, is Free

BTW: There is a Xpress Version that is pretty functional and useful in learning for a full year. That is what converted me from BobCAD to Alibre. That and a lot of help from tjones. He showed me how to create a Boat Propeller with Xpress that can be Exported to a CAM software to be Machined. There are some limits to a few functions but not that many.

One major feature in Alibre is the Parametric ability. It allows you to change a feature like a Fillet, Chamfer, and Overall Size at any time weather you saved and reopened or months down the road.

You have a PM

You might as well give the Alibre Xpress a try. It is very nice and mnay full functioning fetures for free.

If you end up getting the CAM then you can use the Xpress and have both for free. Just imagine having that much capablility for nothing.
