Learning 3D modelling

I was one of the first 100K to sign up for Alibre Xpress... so to learn HOW to use it I am modelling the JGRO router from the plans...even though my design is different... it's nice to use a plan to learn from!


So far for a FREE software package , it is pretty powerful and cool (never having used 3d software before)

I know the right side should not have the large center hole and the other hole toward the front (WHAT is that hole for???) but I got in a hurry to see the whole gantry modelled so I used the left side for the right also.

That hole at the front allows the adjustment screw for the 'Z' axis guide rod to recess into allowing a little more travel for the the 'Y' axis.

I guess if I would have kept modelling the router... I would have seen this!
