    Part creation strategies?

    Noob, please excuse.

I want to be able to create small, simple parts that represent features, for use in development of more complex parts. I was thinking I could create an assembly of features, and then save it as a part. Is this possible? How would this kind of thing be done otherwise?

    Thanks,

    jv

I suppose you could create a master part with all of the features, then make a copy of that "template" for specific uses with appropriate features enabled or disabled as needed.

Not sure how you could otherwise do what you propose, but then again, I'm no expert.

    Got it...

    Thanks Joe,

I cross-posted in the Alibre forum and got the answer there. You can add parts to assembly and then use the "assembly boolean" from the tools menu. This makes into a part.

    Cool.
Have no use for it but good to know it can be done.
