    3D feature funniness...

Noob, so could well be me.

Features disappear in workspace and design explorer entries grayed-out when I select a base sketch.

    Here's the sequence:

    • 2d sketch a rectangle
    • revolve boss to make it a ring w/ rect. xsection
    • 2d sketch, plane is axial, a circle cutting outer circumference as to produce aknurl feature
    • extrude-cut the circle
    • circular feature pattern to copy the cut 15 degreees each three copies
    • group-select the three and circular feature pattern three copies 120 degrees apart
    • 2D sketch mode
    • select mode
    • select circle
    • right-click and select 'edit'
    • features disappear!

If you look at the design tree on the left margin, there is a horizontal blue line that rolls back upwards when you edit things. Anything below that horizontal blue line will get suspended/supressed while you are editing items above the blue line. This is because of the sequence in which sketches and features are created. When you have finished editing the feature/sketch, find the little icon along the [i]right[i] margin all the way to the bottom that looks like a miniature horizontal blue line and click it to regenerate all the features to the end of the design tree. SolidWorks operates the same way FWIW.

The control is often called the dogbone.
