Default Computer Died New one wont run Alibre v12

    Hi gang,
My computer which was running Vista rolled over and gasped its final breath. I had been running Alibre Ver12 just fine with the old machine. I went out and bought the stuff to build a new machine which is running just fine under Windows 8.1 I have been successful in re-installing most of the programs I had running on the old machine. The main exception is that Alibre V12 has so far denied my attempts at bringing it back to life. I went scouting around and found out that Alibre has actually been obtained by another company and that the Alibre product seems to be kaput. I have tried to re-install by running the Alibre install program which seems to complete its task just fine. When I go to start the program via the shortcut the installer created the computer just kinda stares at me and does not try and run the program. I have my original key code but the program has not asked me for it. (BTW the program was a download of a file so I do not have an install disk). I tried to see if something was happening by watching Task Manager when I clicked the Alibre icon but saw nothing try and start up. Any thoughts and or tips on what you might have done in a similar situation?

Any thoughts and or tips will be most appreciated.

Had the same thing with version 9. Worked fine on xp but did not want to start on win 7.

I think 8.1 is too far ahead of vista... Maybe try 7 and even go back to vista....

I got Alibre V12 running on my Daughters laptop which is running Windows 7. I tried to install it on the machine I am using to run Mach3. That machine is running XP. That machine was struggling with talking on the internet. I did not take the time to diagnose what was going on with the network connection. I then tried plan "C" which was install on the laptop. My thanks to those that responded to my inquiry.

Maybe too late now, but did you try running Alibre in "Compatibility mode"?

If you right click on the desktop shortcut you'll see a tab called "compatibility", under that you can tick a box and select an operating system version. It effectively tricks an application into thinking it's running on Win XP, Vista, Win7 or whatever you select.

It doesn't always work but does a reasonable job most of the time, might at least be worth a try.

    Edit *spelling*

I do have it running on a Win 7 laptop. Did you do anything special to get V12 running on Win 10 Volts& Bolts?

I installed windows 10 with no changes. When I try to run it I get an error message that says it's not authorized to run on this computer. If you click OK it closes in the program won't run. If you click the little red X in the upper right corner of the window the program continues execution is normal. Go figure can't really tell you why but it works
