It was a factory miswire. I found it and fixed it, but I still can't get the controller to run. Now I have a commuication error from computer to controller.

I'm trying. Will let you know when if ever i get there. you might want to review Ajax's customer service before you buy, jury is still out on that one apparently.

How did you hook it up? I can't get any help.

I'm starting to think that a vast majority of the problems that Ajax is having could be resolved through better documentation. I've never had to call Delta about my servo drives, because it specifically states in the PDF how to hook them up, sourcing or sinking I/O, relays, encoders, etc etc etc. Same thing with the VFDs, same thing with spindle motors - hell even my line reactor manual is better than AJAX, and most all of my problems have been resolved with simple quick answers over the phone or email, which is to say that if they were in the manual, I would have never have had to call, and I wouldn't be so pissy about the $1100 that I basically just blew on an AJAX product. There's SO much garbage out there these days. I think the AJAX hardware is good, but man... setting it up and getting it to run is a ***** but it shouldn't be. I ripped up my entire electrical cabinet to get AJAX running, and I don't really want to tear it out less than a month later because the company can't figure out the problems with the system. Also, on their system, Ajax ought to give their users SOME access to the internal PLC so users can update some of the simple ladder logic. Some system vendors apparently "black box" the motion control parts of their software and leave the coolants and other easy stuff accessible to the system integrators. I have some servo and spindle enable contactors that would be really nice to control via software...

For now the pressure needs to go on AJAX to fix their web site, get their software in order, and get their documentation right, and to bug the bejesus out of them until they can ship a product that actually works as advertised. I see they're directly selling stuff on EBAY these days.. Not a good sign.

    Help with Mach3/Ajax/allinone
I am using older bp servos/ new encoders from Ajax. motor sits on the bench, when given an "x" comand with slow or fast feed in just spins fast for about 5 revs the screen says it moved a distance then mach says "x" axis position error.
I keep changing encoder counts, motor counts, nothing seems to work.

I can't speak to Mach setup and operation, but a runaway on any attempt to move is usually either:
    1) Reversed motor power polarity: try swapping your plus and minus motor power leads for that axis. If that doesn't help, put them back.
    2) Crossed encoder connections: double check that the encoder on the X axis motor is indeed plugged into the assigned encoder input (usually #1, the right-most one).

    Thanks, cnc
but all it did was look the motor with 25 volts AC, & mach thought is was moving but did not move, but no error

We can't give you much help here unless you give us a coherent explanation of what change you made, what test you tried, and what measurement you made.

I don't know what "look the motor" means.

It kind of sounds like you were saying that it was running away before; then maybe you changed something; now it is not running away. But that is just a guess on my part.

sorry, LOCKED the motor,(could not move it by hand)
encoders seem to work in Mach, when I give it X.06 F.9 it spins the servo about 5 revs,(mach says X22.458) if given a large move with large feed - does the very same thing & mach says axis "x" posion error.
I just need a simple setup, just x & z, no limits no home, I have all these off & all the toogle switches up on the "allinone" to ignore any faults, but the axis 1 ccw is blinking, yesterday it was axis 2 cw blinking.
have only the "x" hooked up all else is off, does the same with either servo wired.
any more questions please ask, I don't have much hair left to pull out.

I am up and running. I am now an expert with Milltronics, Ajax, and Mach 3. I now know as much about Ajax as Ajax does. It would be far easier to build your own controller, than to try to get help from Ajax to operate theirs. There is enough help on the Mach 3 forum to build a controller from scratch, and make it work properly.
