Dang Keith, I wish I was closer..
Hello. I'd like to invite anyone interested to a informal personal CENTROID CNC control demonstration. Bring your prints and we'd be glad to show you how easy and powerful the CENTROID CNC control is. We are located in Statesville, NC and there are other participating dealers who offer in house demo's nationwide. PA, AZ, AL, WA to name a few other locations. We are real "down to earth, get the job done right retroffiters" and we'd like to invite you to come and see for yourself how a CENTROID CNC control can make your projects better and easier. -Keith

Hi
I have a Southbend Magnaturn I would like to retrofit. The machine uses hydraulic cylinders to drive the X and Z axis and uses scales for feedback.
No rotary encoders or ball screws on this machine.
Can this machined be retrofitted with a Cncajax control? If so what would a very rough guess be?
Thank You
Hello.
Examples of Typical Lathe Retrofit Packages:
1. Lathe Retrofit using Existing Servo Motors
Lathe Kit $ 2459
Control Pendant $ 639
(2) Servo Encoder $ 250
(1) Spindle Encoder $ 125
(3) Encoder Cable Prewire $ 177
Cap & Bridge Combo $ 69
Total $3719 + S&H
the bad news is the Magnaturn is somewhat of an oddity and would require alot of mechanical work to covert it to typical ballscrew style CNC machine. If you had alot of time and could get the screws for cheap it might be worth it.. otherwise..sell it and find another lathe that would be a better candidate for a retrofit upgrade. good luck with your projects..
Hi Keith
I thought not having a ballscrew for a rotary encoder would be a problem.
I have a link for a piston actuated ball screw. http://www.lsitvc.com/smartstroke.htm
Would that work?
Thank You
