    Hello,

A copy of the Installation manual as well as the wiring schematic can be downloaded from the AjaxCNC website under the Downloads page.

    Hello AjaxCNC

I am retrofitting a Bridgeport series 1 with an Ajax system, I have the optical Z limit and see that ajax has a drawing for wireing, but nothing on mounting them.
    Can you help?

    Optical Limit Switches

There are lots of ways of mounting them, depending on your quill housing.

Here is an installation on a Shizuoka ST-N, which required added sheet metal to expand the quill housing. Note that on this machine I installed them "upside down", to shorten and simplify the cable routing.

Just make sure you have a little room to adjust them up and down using the mounting slots, and that your wires don't interfere with quill movement.

Here is a more typical installation, on a Supermax YCM-40.

Now I get the jest, but am also curious as to if you could extend the connecting wires between the two and use them for the X Y limits as well?
    Looks like it could work.

You could, but they would have to be installed in a sheltered space. If they are out in the open, you will get a false limit trip as soon as a flying chip falls into one of the photo sensor gaps.

They are also prone to false trips if you let oil or coolant get onto the sensors.

In general, for X and Y you are better off using standard electro-mechanical limit switches. Among the many to choose from, I would consider the ABP2H35Z11 from www.automationdirect.com.
