Why not replace the Nicad CMOS battery. That is what I do. You have to remove it anyway or it will leak and destroy the mother board. It is unsoldered. I use a soldering iron and a solder sucker.
The old bios does not support a HD larger than 504 MB hence the label on the hard drive. If you use a bigger HD you have to Fdisk it for the 504MB and make it a active DOS partition. Then load DOS 6.20 and then the machine software. The CMOS settings for the HD must match per the label. There are many posts here about that.
