Hello All,
We just bought a Harig? Bridgeport? grinder with the EZSurf software. I don't know how to use a grinder but the old computer controller is right up my alley. Now you can guess my age.

I am still trying to figure out what brand of motherboard we have. I am trying to hook up an external battery. I believe at this age, most people used a 4AA battery pack, or a 3.6V lithium external battery. Connection is through a 4 pin header. After the battery is plugged in, you can set the hard drive parameters and hopefully your drive will boot. Right now, I can enter the HD parameters, but the next day the CMOS will have forgotten and no boot.
It looks like Harig set the drive we have for non-standard parameters, so it will appear to the system that you have a ~512MB drive. So says the sticker they put on top of the hard drive.
Cylinders: 1024
Landing Zone: 1024
Heads: 16
Sectors: 63
Precomp: 0
I've successfully made a copy of our HD onto a 2GB HD, and booted it. Still have the battery issue, though. I also backed up the files on the HD. Forgot what version we have.
The identifying parts of the mobo:
SiS chipset
AM486DX2-S CPU
"R407W2" Label
Award BIOS string: 01/08/96-SIS-85C471B/E/G-2C4I9R01-00
8 SIMM slots
I'm searching places like here to find the mobo type and a manual:
ISA486GXi Motherboard
So far no luck. At some point I will quit and just figure out where to try the external battery. I really don't want to blow up the mobo.
Good luck all. I think we can work together to figure things out.
