What kind of brass? For the most part, 1/4-20 is not big deal on it. Brass is fairly abrasive, so if you have a 'ton' of holes to do, go coated. If not, uncoated will work fine. I usually use coated hi-spiral cut taps in it. Roll taps will work also, unless its real soft which usually causes gaulling on the tap. In this case, cut tap will work better. You can run brass like aluminum.
