1-2hp vfd drive? is it worth fixing? IGBTs today are hard to come by as a lot of fab shops shut down when the economy tanked 2yrs ago and are still not backup to speed. we have 16 week delivery on some igbts for drive repairs in this size! prices are often $ 120 each in this size. all that said, might it be worth getting quote on new replacement instead? We sell little Hitachis in 1-2hp size for like $ 250 new?

If your talking about a smaller one like a series 160 drive then I wouldnt waste time trying to get it fixed. Repair price = replacement price. For instance the bridge section of the drive is a sealed module that cannot be worked on without going through some pain to get into it.

This is a great repair center,
Search for Drives, Controls, Controllers - Electrical South
But be forewarned, in low HP sizes it is likely that the labor costs to repair a VFD will outweigh the cost of new, regardless of the series. As the others said, that 160 series is not repairable, but even if you have an older one like a 1305, the Darlington Transistors, which are replaceable, are so deep in the drive that it may take 4 hours to fix it.
