8020 bearings, just how bad can they be for a hobbyist type machine?. What harm can it be to have say, .005 accuracy in any direction when one would, say, make a carving, or a sign or, a model of something. I'm sure a dinosaur model doesn't need to be spot on. After all most of us don't make watches. |

| To be honest with you I'm not to impressed by them at all. I haven't built my CNC router yet as I'm currently working on a CNC Mill. However I did 95-100 percent of the machine work on my dads 8020 build CNC router and after holding .0005-.001 tolerance on everything I machined I have to say it was a waist of time to try and hold those tolerances. The machine will never hold anything better then .003-.005 unless it goes threw a major redesign. Sorry but I'm a CNC programmer by trade and running CNC machines for 10 years has made me into a perfectionist when it comes to anything with my name on it. When my mill is done I will start working on my router but I plan to use either .750 or 1.000 round linear rails and bearings. |
