Does 80/20 really sell their product?

I have seen 80/20 used in a few trade show displays and machinery enclosures. It seems like a well built product with plenty of positive features. However trying to purchase it is another issue altogether. I have called direct only to be sent to a distributor who doesnt make it very easy or seem interested in my little purchase (only 1 enclosure from 1010, a simple 34x28x18 box with a front and top panel hinged together as a vertically lifting top and door, just picture a bifold door turned sideways). Sure I could buy bits and pieces thru ebay but I wanted a 1 stop shop. I downloaded frame designer and get nothing but conflicting info at joints and locking up. Drawing 2 parallel lines to simulate a door and frame is impossible. I have posted a question or 2 here thinking I might get some response, none yet in regards to watertightness. Just curious. I find it interesting when a customer is willing to pay retail and no one makes any efforts, good luck!

Go to linear bearings, pneumatic components, electrical products, safety products, automation products, linear slides this website. They will sell you all the extrusion you need. You can try this Slotted Aluminum shapes for CNC machines website also and it may be a better fit for what you need.Good luck.

You should add your website to your profile, so people can find it easier.

Thanks to all for the responses. I will check out your recommendations. That being said, are any of the links or contacts using 80/20 products or is it comparable stuff? Not knocking other brands at all just curious as to 80/20's involvement here. I wont be struggling with a person or company to accept my money and I am sure there are competing products. Just wonder why anyone would waste the time with marketing.

I agree with faste1. I am gearing up to build a cnc frame and its kinda messy looking for the 8020. I joined there website and was contacted by email the next day and they promised a catalouege and all. thats been about 3 weeks now and nothing. The prices are kept secret untill I guess you are ready to lay down the cash. I downloaded the monster catalouge from their site but it doesnt have prices. I did notice that they supply a list of local dealers, but I havent went that route yet. Also Mainframe,Inc what website? Would have been nice to post a hyperlink. Wanted a easy frame , but may just weld one instead of dealing with the hastle of just buying the 8020. I am sure the 8020 is easier and cheaper, .........but........I am just saying.

This is some of the Misumi offering, Search results for "extrusion" | Plastic Mold Components - Misumi eCatalog
The free catalogue is worth it just for a hardware reference.
I don't know how they compare price wise on the extrusion?
But I buy alot of other hardware from them.

Last time I build something out of 8020 there was a price list you could download from the 8020 site. I was told the dealers go by this list.

I ran into the same problem, local dealers did not really want to deal with my small orders. Luckily I found all I need on the 8020 ebay store and it was one stop shopping for what I required for the build.

I am not sure of the problems with finding pricing. I can find that list fine and even figure out what I need done, then I am referred to a local dealer. Why? Here is the link for mainframe MainFrame Inc. Aluminum Extrusion for Industrial Automation
Btw my local 80/20 dealer seemed to be less informed than I am. I am in this little town of HOUSTON! 4th largest city and it is incredible what you cant get.

I ordered all 80/20 extrusions at the 80/20 Ebay store:

    8020 Inc Garage Sale LINK

I bought 3 pieces of 1530 extrusion @ 97" lengths and a drop piece of 3030 @ 45" and cut it down to length myself.

All of it including shipping to Texas was $367.

Paul, I thought about that but I want quite a few different pieces. After working with "frame designer" and drawing what I wanted the quote it gives me is in the 370 dollar range. This is for all pieces to be cut and fit, end caps, connectors but no hinges or handles, 6@28", 6@34", 9@18". Btw where in Texas are you?
