Radial Helical Mill with Live Tool Puma 700LM | | I need to put 3 holes radially on a 12" diameter part 120 degrees apart from each other. They are not inline with anything so I can start first hole anywhere.
The drilled holes are thru to center bore and are 3/4" diameter. They have a 2inch deep counterbore in each hole that is 1.5" diameter.
Here is my problem.....
I have a Daewoo/Doosan Puma 700LM. I have and use the live tooling options quite a bit so I know how to drill the 3/4" diameter holes without problem. I do not however know how I can helical mill (circular interpolate) the counterbores.
I do not have a Y-axis option with this machine which hence raises my dillema. Is there another way?
Any help would be appreciated to point me in the right direction. Any examples would be helpful as well.
DWG SPECS: 12.500 DIA. O.D OF PART
HOLES ARE 5" IN ON Z FROM FACE OF PART
3/4 DIA THRU HOLES INTO A 10" BORE
1.5" DIA. COUNTERBORES THAT ARE 2" DEEP IN EACH HOLE
HOLES ARE 120 DEGREES APART(1ST HOLE STARTS ANYWHERE)
I just don't believe that it would be possible to do without the Y-axis. I could see it being done on the face of the part but not on the cylinder or radially. Maybe I'm tupid.....
Thanks
