If you want to stop the spindle very fast, then you will need a braking resistor to do it,
the drives have a small braking resistor, but if you try to stop to fast the drive will go into an alarm, you can use the drive's relay to turn the brake on & off, but you will also need to have a switch for manual mode for switching the brake on & off as well, you would do this by using a relay if it is not controled by software then you may need a timer but I see you are using Mach so you can do it in Mach by using the Brain
