The battery is used in the same fashion as for a typical PC BIOS, it suplpies enough power to keep the system software ( parameters, machine settings, etc ) in memory for a lemgth of time after the machine is turned OFF.
If the battery is exhausted, 9 times out of 10, your machine will not fire up, and you will have to re-load all your system disks. It would be a good idea to plan a annual backup of these settings. |
