My wife has been using an XCam2 wireless cam to an old "junker" TV for monitoring kiln temperatures. Cheap on eBay and I bet you've got an old TV lying about.
That way you still get full screen on your videos!

I do this too sometimes if the program is going to be a long one, I run the receiver for it into one of the inputs on my big screen and do the picture in picture thing. Works good for peace of mind (at least with that
)
