If you are running 18 IPM with a 1/2" end mill at 50% step over and the mill passes into a full width cut somewhere and starts to stall the spindle the mill would back off the feed to keep RPM within whatever % of actual you want. Once in the clear then resume the previous IPM. Probably wouldn't be of much use with a 1/32" end mill. |
Does anybody know if there are control systems out there are doing this now? My Okuma will alarm out or halt at programmable load levels, but the Haas mills don't even seem to have that level of functionality, much less dynamic/adaptive feed control.
